Kin Newsletter – July 2021

Written by: Jesse Cecchetto

Marketing Communications Lead at the Kin Foundation.

July 13, 2021

This past month, Kin has made a significant leap towards the evolution of its ecosystem via further legal clarity that the Kin Token is not inherently a security, added support for Kin on MEXC, a global exchange with millions of active users worldwide, welcomed Jesse Cecchetto to lead marketing communications, completed developments surrounding Kin SDKs, saw new Apps join Kin, selected 5 winners from the Solana Hackathon, and was mentioned as a key proof point for Solana’s growth in a Motley Fool article.

With the past month’s progress, Kin comes closer to creating a fairer digital world with developers and users at the center.

Kin is now available to trade on MEXC Global, an exchange with around 5 million users in more than 70 countries. MEXC Global ran a Kin competition rewarding users for their deposit levels and trading volume. Less than a week into the start of trading, MEXC has captured the top spot in Kin daily volume.

Horizons Law, a U.S.-based law firm specializing in blockchain and cryptocurrency projects, issued an independent U.S. legal opinion about Kin. Horizons Law’s independent opinion is that transactions related to Kin Tokens currently are not inherently securities transactions under the Securities Act of 1933, Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and subsequent guidance issued by the SEC or other relevant authorities.

The Kin Foundation also welcomed Jesse Cecchetto to the team – Jesse joins our growing team to lead marketing / PR initiatives, content and communications strategy.

Six new apps have joined the Kin ecosystem over the past month. Check out the full Kin app directory and visit their pages to learn more: @Kreechures (Web), @Playtoshi (iOS/Android), @Fiyerapp (Android), @PauseForApp (Android), @PerkExchange (Web) and @JustJokingApp (Android).

On the technical side, the latest Kin iOS SDK went live for testing, and the Kin 2 Migration was officially completed. As of now, post-migration, there are 58,925,415 Kin wallets on the Solana blockchain – the largest migration of its kind in cryptocurrency history and the highest number of accounts in the Solana ecosystem by far. The Unity and Flutter SDKs are nearing completion of internal testing and will be made available on a public beta basis very soon.

Attention: All ERC-20 Kin Holders!

Just another reminder from us, if you are holding the older and original version of Kin issued on the Ethereum blockchain, the token swap went live in May 2021, and it is necessary to swap your tokens to KIN SPL as the ERC-20 KIN is no longer supported. If this affects you, then see our previous announcement with instructions here. This is a time limited swap so do not miss the opportunity. We will make further announcements when a closing date is set for the swap.
